MORRISTOWN -- The village of Morristown has a new coffee shop.
Jet Fuel Java opened its doors Tuesday morning inside the Papa D's Morristown location.
Papa D's owner and Jet Fuel Java co-owner Quinton Crosby said that since opening the pizza shop's second location at 66665 Belmont-Morristown Road, which is the former DiCarlo’s Pizza site, Sept. 25, he's planned on opening a coffee shop at the location.
He added that it’s such a great location for a coffee shop due to being next to the whole Union Local School District as well as Interstate 70's exit being right there.
"There’s no coffee over here in a real sense, like coffee shops. And then it’s kind of lacking on ice cream too. So we do have Kirke’s ice cream and milkshakes," Crosby said. "We have 12 different flavors of Kirke's ice cream, and you can get that in cones, bowls, milkshakes, specialty drinks, lattes, americanos and custom lemonades too."
He added that since opening he's already seen an uptick of pizza and pepperoni roll sales.
Co-owner of Jet Fuel Java Morgan Lukert, who previously worked at Papa D's before going into business with Crosby, said that her favorite thing about the Morristown location is getting to interact with the school students and teachers.
"I like seeing all the people that come in. I like being connected with the school and being able to do projects with them," Lukert said.
She added that the shop recently sponsored three Belmont County students through the Heart of Belmont County organization.
"We sponsored three kids and it was really rewarding and it’s nice to get back to our community," Lukert said. "It’d be nice to do more projects like that once we get up and going."
Crosby said that his favorite drink the shop offers is a white chocolate butterscotch latte, while Lukert said her favorite drink is the dirty chai.
"I really like our dirty chai’s. I like matcha as well, and you can’t go wrong with a milkshake. So there’s a lot of good options," Lukert said.
In addition to the 20 flavors of coffee offered by the new coffee shop, it also offers four sugar-free flavors: chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut and caramel.
On the treats side, the shop offers cookies, cinnamon rolls and custom cake pops by local business Shaela's Emotional Support Cakes.
Once the shop finds its footing, it plans to roll out a customizable sandwich menu.
Lukert added that the shop will also have seasonal specialty drinks and has already rolled out its pumpkin spice lattes.
"I have a lot of things coming for spring. We wanted to go really big with our menu, but we decided that we open, we have to keep it simple so that way we can get everything in line and then add on things," Lukert said.
Crosby added that they plan on adding an acai bowl and smoothies to the menu eventually.
Jet Fuel Java is open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
He said that if people come in for pizza after the coffee shop is closed and still want ice cream, they will still be able to order the ice cream.
