Belmont County Sheriff warns residents to keep vehicles locked

MORRISTOWN - Multiple reports of theft and trespassing have been confirmed in the Morristown and Flushing area.
Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said that this week has seen several reports of a string of resident's vehicles being entered into and items being stolen.
Zusack is encouraging residents to lock their vehicle's doors.
“You should always lock your car up. A lot of these things are cars that are unlocked. They’re not getting broken into but just entered at that point," Zusack said. "But keeping your car locked is the main thing. Lock your car at all times and, and if you can park it where it’s lit up that's pretty good."
He added that a lot of people park their vehicles on the streets and he obviously understands that some residents don't have a choice but to park their cars on the street. Zusack said that it's best to park your car in a well lit area and to keep it locked.
He added that he encourages residents to keep an eye on their vehicles.
According to Allstate Insurance's website, the top 10 tips to prevent vehicle theft are to lock your vehicle, remove keys from the vehicle, don't leave a spare key in the vehicle, close all windows of the vehicle, park in well lit areas, install an audio alarm system, install a vehicle immobilizer system, install a tracking system, don't leave any valuables in the vehicle, and be alert.
Over the past week several residents of the Flushing and Morristown area took to social media posting Ring camera footage of two men in all black clothes with ski masks on their property.
Zusack said that his office currently does not have any suspects.
