Belmont County OPERS to meet Sept. 16

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Belmont County Chapter 79 of the Ohio Public Employee Retirees Inc. will hold its bimonthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 16 at the Ohio Valley Mall Community Room. Use the mall entrance near Michaels.

Guest speaker will be Roberta Raymond, co-chair of The Wall That Heals, a Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica and mobile education center.

Belmont County traffic impacts

BELMONT COUNTY -- The following are current road construction and traffic impacts reported by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Motorists should use caution in work zones, watch for changing traffic patterns and allow extra travel time.

-- Work continues on the Interstate 70/State Route 149 interchange at Exit 208 for SR 149/Morristown. Two lanes of I-70 remain open in each direction. Completion is expected in 2029.

-- Resurfacing continues on 11 miles of U.S. Route 40 from Ladybend Hill at I-70 mile marker 204 east to western St. Clairsville. Traffic is maintained by flaggers. Completion is expected Sept. 30.

-- Work continues to stabilize two slopes along SR 147 west of Key between Wegee and Tiber roads. Temporary traffic signals are in use. Completion is expected Oct. 31.

-- SR 149 is closed west of Warnock for repairs to a concrete retaining wall along McMahon Creek. The detour uses SR 9 south to SR 147 west and back to SR 149. Completion is expected Sept. 30.

-- Work continues on the SR 149 bridge over Little McMahon Creek. One lane is maintained. Completion is expected Sept. 30.
