DONALD WARD

Donald R. “D” Ward, 92 of Shadyside, OH, died Monday, December 22, 2014, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire, OH.

He was born January 14, 1922 in Shadyside, OH, a son of the late Chester and Hazel Groves Ward.

D was a retired Civil Engineer with the North American Coal Corporation. A graduate of Shadyside High School and Ohio University; a member of the Shadyside Lodge 724 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville, Osiris Shrine and the Shriners International, VFW Post 626 of Bellaire, OH, American Legion Post 521 Shadyside, OH. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

D’s family wishes to thank the Country Club Retirement Campus caregivers for their excellent and loving care.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Lou Shallcross and one brother, Paul Ward.

Surviving are his wife, Rosanne Gmeindl Ward, daughters, Jill Kaylor and Bonnie (Bob) Hoskinson both of Conyers, Georgia; his loving stepchildren, Dr. Patrick (Mary Jo) Long of Florida, Gary Long of Illinois, Lori (Dr. Malcolm) Root of Florida, Tim (Stephanie) Long of Florida and Susie (Dr. Bruce) Kudryk of Florida; one brother, Roger Ward of Florida and two sisters, Nancy Kelch and Sarah (Tony) Dabo both of Columbus, OH; grand children, Justin Clark, Lance Clark, Bo Hoskinson, Brett Hoskinson, Jessica Gauthreaux, Megan Gibbons, Matt Long, Aaron Root, Ben Root, Harrison Long, Hunter Long, Kelly Kudryk and Erika Kudryk and great-grandchildren, Baily Clark, Avery Hoskinson, Colin Hoskinson and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. A memorial graveside service will be at a later date to be announced.
