WAYNE McKEEN
Wayne Lee McKeen, 68, of West Liberty, formerly of Zanesfield, and raised in Belmont, Ohio, gained his wings after a tragic automobile accident on July 27, 2018.
He was the son of the late Roy and Mildred (Green) McKeen, who will be awaiting his arrival at Heaven’s Gate along with his brother Dale and sister- in-law Bobbie, and brother Roger and sister-in-law Evelyn.
Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, husband, and friend. Wayne is survived by his loving family, daughter, Shannon (Nathan) Batchelder, son, Shaun (Mindy) Smith, grandchildren, Jazmine (Jazi), Jourdain, Jalynn, Wyatt, Aeva, and Jaxxsyn. Wayne is also survived by his sister, Janet (Robert) Kocher, and brother, Larry (Karen) McKeen of Belmont. On August 4, 2010, he married Barb (Metz), who survives.
After graduating Union Local High School in 1968, Wayne then went to work at Consol Coal and was a proud member of the UMWA Local 7690. He most recently retired from Trucco Construction where he loved working as a heavy equipment operator. Wayne was a member of the North Main Church of Christ in Bethesda.
Wayne most enjoyed time spent with his daughter, son, and son- in-law discussing work. His grandchildren, family, and many friends became an extended family to him. He loved family dinner nights, going out to eat, making trips “down home” to share coffee with his niece Sandy, and enjoying evening fires with a cold “Bud bottle.” Wayne’s laughter, smile, and love of life was contagious. He had recently attended Shadow Box Live in Columbus and was looking forward to attending Nights Under Fire in Norwalk with his family.
Wayne’s wishes were to be cremated with no traditional funeral services. Friends and family will gather to celebrate Wayne’s life. Wayne will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
