VERNA STEVENS
Verna Louella Stevens, age 93, of Holloway, Belmont County, Ohio died at 6:29 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019 in Forest Hills Care Center, St. Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio.
Born August 10, 1925 in Harrison County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Clayton W. Luyster and Bertha Louella Hamilton Luyster.
Verna was a graduate of Freeport High School, Class of 1942, and was a member of the House of the Shepherd in New Athens. She was a devoted wife and homemaker.
Her husband, Donald Douglas Stevens, died January 16, 2003. They were married December 28, 1968.
Surviving are a daughter, Joann Longoria of Holloway; two sisters, Florence Robertson of Flushing and Betty Jackson of Virginia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Hanes in 1972, and David R. Hanes in 2016; two brothers, Raymond Luyster and Lawrence (Sam) Luyster; a grandson and two great-granddaughters; and a step-son, Donald Stevens.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2019 in Koch Funeral Home, Freeport with Pastor Michael Tuchek officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1 in the funeral home.
