EDWARD “ED” ZIEGLER

Edward P. Ziegler, 90, resident of Wheeling, WV, died peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Wheeling on January 12, 1929, son of the late Frank X. and Edna Meyer Ziegler.

Ed was a retired millwright with Conalco.

In addition to his parent s, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Francis Ziegler and Thomas Ziegler; one sister, Mary Ziegler.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Frances A. “Frannie” Wilkinson Ziegler; one son, Gary P. Ziegler; two grandchildren, Tara Obregon (Erv) and Sean Ziegler (Katey); two great-grandsons, Cody Obregon and Travis Foster; several nieces and nephews.

Ed loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his buddies from Conalco. He especially liked camping at Holly River in Watoga St. Parks and hiking the trails with Frannie. He loved working with wood, carving, building things and also loved baking his sugar cookies and apple pies. He always enjoyed gardening and keeping Frannie with flowers for her gardens. His greatest joy was going to California on Amtrak across the country, his Mountaineers, St. Louis Cardinals and Steelers. He will be riding his Kubota and John Deere tractors cutting the grass in heaven and seeing his puppies and kittens and feeding the birds.

Special thanks to his doctors and nurses at Medical Park on the fourth floor and the loving care of everyone at Liza’s Place and Valley Hospice.

There will be no visitation or service.

Memorial donations can be made to Valley Hospice/Liza’s Place, Seeing Eye Dogs for the Blind, Ohio County Animal Shelter or Warwood United Methodist Church.
