BUTCH MOORE SR.

Wilbur “Butch” Moore, Sr., 77, of Rush Run, OH, passed away Saturday February 15, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 15, 1942 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the Wilbur D. and Amelia “Mae” (Klan) Moore.

Butch retired in 1998 from Ohio Edison in Stratton, OH, where he was a control room operator. In his younger years, he worked for 9 years at the former papermill in Steubenville. He was an active member of the Meadowbrook Church of God and enjoyed going to church camp at both Warsaw, OH and Lakeland, FL. He enjoyed fishing, going to the races, working on cars, building and remodeling homes, and going to both McDonald’s and the Brilliant Gas Station for coffee in the morning.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Atkins) Moore, whom he married on March 10, 1961; three children, Wilbur D. “Butch” (Betsy) Moore, Jr. of Columbus, OH, Richard A. “Rick” (Brenda) Moore of Westerville, OH and Debbie Moore of Wheeling, WV; two brothers, Tom (Linda) Moore of Brilliant, OH, and James (Jessie) Moore of Weirton, WV; four sisters, Dorothy (Kenneth) Davis of Rayland, OH, Phyllis (Keith) Long of Rayland, OH, Leona (Paul) Clites of Cumberland, MD and Betty (Keith) Thomas of Thornville, OH; four grandchildren, Michael A. (Amie) Moore, Ryan (Jeremiah Emrick) Moore, David J. Moore and Sarah Jo Moore; two great-grandchildren, Jessamee and Emily Moore; and he loved his dog, Brutus.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St. Brilliant, OH. On Wednesday there will be viewing from Noon until the time of his funeral services at 1 p.m. at the Meadowbrook Church of God in Rayland, OH, with Rev. Marvin Schooler, officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
