NELLIE POLIVKA

Nellie Frances Polivka, 102, formerly of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away Sunday morning, February 9, 2020.

She was born January 12, 1918, in Martins Ferry, OH, a daughter of the late John and Antonina Kowalczyk Lojas, with the given name of Aniela.

Nellie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Millard M. Polivka in 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Albert (Josephine) Lojas, Mary Lojas, Helen (Henry) Duda, Frank Lojas, Alice (John) Zurek, John (Helen) Lojas, Walter ((Blanche) Lojas, Anna Lojas, Katherine (Bud) Snodgrass, and Victor (Nancy) Lojas.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann (Lewis) Canter, Mt. Vernon, OH; her son, Millard J. (Jin Lu) Polivka, Aurora, OH; seven grandchildren, Michelle Canter (Wil) Duffy and Lewis (Heather) Canter both of Mt. Vernon, OH, Carl (Cheryl) Polivka, Ridgeville, SC, James Polivka, Spartanburg, SC, Justin (Megan) Polivka, Chesnee, SC, Alex and Andy Polivka of Aurora, OH; 11 great-grandchildren, Makayla and Claire Duffy, Mt. Vernon, and Dalton Canter and Treva Bodine of Mt. Vernon, OH, Veronica Parris, Caitlyn and Millard R Polivka, Ridgeville, SC, Reid, Anna, Ava and Jude Polivka, Chesnee, SC; and her sister, Elizabeth (Joseph) Sall of St. Clairsville, OH.

Friends will be received 1-7 p.m., Sunday, at Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, where a vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Nellie’s Funeral Liturgy with Mass, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, with Fr. Thomas Chillog the Celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
