JAMES KLATT

James Edward Klatt, 77, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, died on March 23, 2020, at Wheeling Hospital.

Jim was born at home on February 11, 1943, in the Cherry Hill section of Warwood, West Virginia, son of the late Henry Robert Klatt and Laura (Greene) Klatt. He graduated from Warwood High School (1961), West Liberty College (B.S. 1967), and Eastern Michigan University (M.A. 1972), and taught science in Wyandotte, Michigan, for 36 years.

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by Suzanne (Skews) Klatt, his wife of nearly 53 years; two sons, Timothy (Tanya) Klatt of Glenview, IL and Joshua (Eliana P’rez) Klatt of New York, NY; two granddaughters, Annalina and Emmaline Klatt, of Glenview, IL; sister-in-law Darlyn Klatt; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Jim’s family was precious to him; he safeguarded his loved ones vigilantly.

He was a trusted and loyal friend; his friendships spanned decades, undiminished by years or miles.

His generosity and hospitality were always noted, and his good fortune and blessings were shared far and wide.

In recent years, Jim established an orchard of hundreds of fruit trees and practiced the art of beekeeping. On any given day, he might have been spotted driving a tractor, tending to his garlic crop, or walking the hills of the farm with Suzanne. May his memory live on and be an exemplar of the honest and loving man that he was.

Due to public health restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, his memorial will be delayed.
