DAVID OKEY

He was born June 2, 1952, in Woodsfield, OH, to the late Earl and Dessie Okey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louella “Sally” Patti.

He was a retired UMWA Coal Miner after thirty plus years underground. David enjoyed golfing, playing cards and most of all being “Pappy” to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his longtime significant other, Carole Crossland of Yorkville, OH; his children, Natasha (Brad) Nixon of Barnesville, OH, Luke (Brianna) Okey of Bethesda, OH, Jon-Michael Okey of Woodsfield; and their mother, Cathy Okey of Barnesville; siblings, Myrna (the late Robert) Minder of Woodsfield, Leona Hoskinson of Barnesville, Gerald (Arlene) Okey of Sardis, OH, Carol (Rich) Kuhn of Woodsfield, Larry (Carolyn) Okey of Dover, OH; and a special cousin, Jack (Karen) Okey of Erie, PA, who he considered more of a brother than a cousin; four grandchildren, Jaiden Butler, Bradie Nixon, Lynnlee Nixon, and Leia Okey; several nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19, only immediate family members gathered at Schuetz Funeral Home in Mingo Jct.. on May 9, 2020. He will be greatly missed by all.
