H. SOMMER TRUAX

Harry Sommer Truax, 93, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, September 18, 2020 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born October 29, 1926 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Harry and Louise Sommer Truax.

Sommer was the owner and operator of Quick Stop Foods in Wintersville and former manager of A & P Foodstores in St. Clairsville, Bridgeport, Martins Ferry, Steubenville and Beaver Falls, PA. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in St. Clairsville and member of Ohio City Lodge 486 F. & A.M. in Martins Ferry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn M. Sklenar Truax; and a sister, Shirley Truax.

Surviving are his children, Donna Polivka of Spartanburg, South Carolina, David (Diane) Truax of St. Clairsville and Danny (Carol) Truax of Richmond, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Kirk) Heath, Carl (Cheryl) Polivka, James Polivka, and Justin (Megan) Polivka; and ten great – grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required during a Private Service for Family only on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
