JAMES RITTER

James (Jim) Ritter of Rolling Hills, California passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 8, 2020, his 75th birthday.

Jim was born and raised in Martins Ferry. He was the son of James and Mary (Calder) Ritter, now deceased.

He attended St. Mary’s and St. John’s. He received his accounting degree from Wheeling College and an MBA from West Virginia University.

It was at WVU where he met his wife Susan (Milligan). Jim served with the Marine Corps in Viet Nam as an infantry company commander.

He was awarded the purple heart. Jim was a CPA and worked as a corporate CFO at several large retail chains across the country.

Jim enjoyed running marathons in his earlier years. He loved a good IPA, The Big Lebowski, history and Jeopardy.

In retirement Jim and Susan traveled extensively to every continent on the globe.

Jim was a quiet and quick-witted man who lived a cherished life.

Jim is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Allison and spouse Mike (Elliot and James), daughter Bethany and spouse David (Emelyn and William), and son Nathan and spouse Michelle (Lucy) all of California. He is also survived by his brother John and sister-in-law Kathy of Park City, Utah.

The memorial service will be with the immediate family on the cliffs of Palos Verdes, California overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Semper Fi & America’s Fund in Jim’s name. Serperfifund.org. The Semper Fi & America Fund is dedicated to providing urgently needed resources and support for combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forced and their families.
