STEPHEN WILSON

Stephen D. Wilson, 89, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2020 after fighting a courageous battle from the effects of a traumatic brain injury. Steve was born in Barnesville on August 22, 1931 to the late Ralph and Stella (Murphy) Wilson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife Marilyn in 1995 and three sisters: Mary (Bob) Clegg, Leatrice (Bill) Davis, and Peggy (Jim) Wilson.

On January 1, 2000 he married Nancy Vandemark Wilson and together they shared twenty wonderful years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by, a sister Jean (Bill) Harris of Salem, Ohio and son Chris Wilson of Bogart, Georgia, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also has many surviving nieces and nephews. Steve loved his four step-daughters and they helped care for him until he passed: Krista (Colin) Kelley of Chillicothe, Ohio; Kathy (Chuck) Nutter of Upper Arlington, Ohio; Kay (Rick) Frey of Willow Street, Pennsylvania and Kelley (Ted) Hanlon of Barnesville, Ohio. His step-family includes thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Steve was a 1949 graduate of Barnesville High School. He received a degree from Kent State University and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He demanded excellence of himself in everything he did. He loved golf. He was an accountant all his life and after he retired he was a volunteer treasurer for both the Barnesville Community Foundation and Barnesville Area Education Foundation. Dinner time was planned to assure that he never missed an episode of Jeopardy. His family and friends appreciated his dry wit and valued his insight. He was a man of few words, but demonstrated his values by the way he lived his life.

In honoring Steve’s wishes calling hours and funeral service will not be observed. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Steve to Hospice of Guernsey, 9711 East Pike Road, Cambridge, OH 43725 or Main Street Methodist Church, 230 West Main Street, Barnesville, OH 43713. Care is entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, Ohio.
