FLOYD “BUD” MILLER

Floyd E. “Bud” Miller, 95, of Quaker City, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.

He was born on June 17, 1925, son of the late Andrew Miller and Pearl (Conner) Miller.

When he died, Mr. Miller was the oldest living resident of Quaker City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Hilda L. (Huntsman) Miller, whom he married on February 23, 1946, and who passed on August 17, 2016. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John R. Miller.

Bud retired as a postmaster in Quaker City, having served the community in that role for 25 years.

He was a WWII, US Army veteran, having served in the First Armored Division under General George S. Patton, and receiving a Purple Heart for that distinguished service.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Quaker City Christian Church, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Earl Conner Post #337 in Quaker City, and a lifetime member of the Quaker City Masonic Lodge.

Bud loved sports, and specifically enjoyed cheering on the OSU football team and the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by a son, James (& Cheryl) Miller of Bellaire; two grandchildren, Bryan (& Holly) Miller and Christy (& Derek) Boyd; seven great-grandchildren, Corey Miller, Hayley Miller, Madison Miller, Laken Miller, Adah Boyd, Layla Boyd, and Jude Boyd.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City, with Pastor Alyson Farmer officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be given to the Quaker City Fire Department.

Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City has been entrusted with arrangements.
