LUVERNIA HAMMOND

Luvernia Zirkle Hammond, 93, of Shadyside, OH, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at Continuing Health Care in Shadyside, OH.

She was born June 25, 1927, in Mabie, WV, a daughter of the late Sanford Zirkle and Pearl Zicklefoose Zirkle.

Luvernia was a long time member of the Church of Nazarene in Powhatan Pt., OH, where she was a member of the Lady Fellowship. She loved to sew and enjoyed altering clothing for friends and those in need.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Hammond; five brothers, Virgil, Maynard, Thomas, Reuben and Everett Zirkle; three sisters, Iona Thomas, Lona Bailey and Margaret Thomas.

Surviving are her son, Delmar (Nancy) Hammond; sister, Mary Bertelli; three granddaughters, Rachel (Chris) Crow, Erica (Paul) Kimmons and Suzanne Hammond; five great-grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Crow, Shawn Crow, Cole Crow, Nicholas Hovey, Ian Campbell; and one great-great-grandchild, Cole.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH, 43942, on Sunday, November 22, 2020, from 2-6:00 p.m. Services will be held Monday, November 23, 2020, 1 p.m., at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home – Powhatan Point Chapel, with Pastor Ron Wilfong officiating. Interment will follow at Powhatan Cemetery Powhatan Point,OH.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required during visitation and service.
