LADD ALLEN RISER

Ladd Allen Riser formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio died surrounded by his family on December 12th in Pataskala, Ohio.

Ladd fought a 6¢-year battle with cancer which had spread throughout his body.

Ladd was a 1984 graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He joined the Air Force in 1985. He then joined the Air National Guard January 2002. After 9/11 he said he needed to return to serve his Country.

Ladd retired as a Master Sgt. on Sept. 11, 2016 from Rickenbacker Air Force Base. He joked it took 31 years to get 22 years of service.

Ladd was deployed 7 times and toured 30 different countries. He noted some places were less amazing than others but he enjoyed all of it.

Ladd was so proud to serve his Country. In retiring from Rickenbacker Air Force Base, Ladd said, “It has been my honor to have been a part of this unit for the past 15 years. I have seen and done many incredible things and gotten to know a multitude of exceptional people. You have all contributed to the person that I’ve become and I hope that I have been a positive influence during my time here.”

Ladd was preceded in death by great-grandparents Thomas and Mary Williams, James and Olga Adams, grandparents Everett and Wilma Riser, Shirley Adams.

Surviving are his son Will and ex-wife Kelli Riser, Pataskala, parents Larry and Georgi Riser of Martins Ferry, OH, brothers Laine of Martins Ferry, James of Tucson, AZ, nephews Xavier and Kolton Riser, Minnesota, nieces Hunter Riser, Martins Ferry and Anaya Riser-Martinez of South Carolina.

As per Ladd’s wish a private service will be held for the family on January 6th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to contribute to a trust fund for William Riser.
