SANDRA KAY GATTEN

Sandra Kay Gatten, Age 79, of Gahanna, OH, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 8th, 2021. She was a loving and dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother.

Sandra was born January 4th, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Walton and Winnie Snape-Skaggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by aunts Connie Snape, Dorothy (Dury) Sudduth, and Grace Skaggs. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Stanley Jr Gatten; three wonderful daughters, Jennifer (Erik) Rautine, Joni Gatten, Jill (Jourdain) Wallace; cherished grandchildren Taylour Rhodes (Marcus Laird) and Micaela Wallace and precious great-granddaughter Brielle Laird; beloved sister Nancy (James) Kemp and cousin Dury Lee (Joann) Sudduth. Including a multitude of family and friends, as well as her grand-dog (Little Boy) and grand-kitties (Alley and Asher).

Sandra attended Morristown Grade school, then went on to be Valedictorian of the last graduating class at Belmont High-school in 1959. They also presented her with the Belmont Babe Ruth Award. She then attended Capitol University, worked for Western Electric for several years before becoming a homemaker and raising three daughters. She was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 48 years and always enjoyed teaching others about God’s Kingdom. Her sincerity, genuine kindness, generosity, and uplifting spirit impacted many throughout her life, and she will be dearly missed.

We would like to give special thanks to all who helped during her final days, including her Hospice nurses. Sincere thanks to her daughters, granddaughters, sons in law, and Sherri Snyder for the enormous amount of support, comfort, and care given to keep her in her home.

A visitation and funeral service is to be held at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, on Friday January 15th, 2021 at 11:00AM to 12:00PM with social distancing and facial coverings required.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January, 23rd 2021 at 2:00PM.
