JOANNE NEY

Joanne C. Ney, 93, of Bellaire passed away on January 23, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Shadyside, OH. She was born on January 2, 1928, a daughter of John and Anna (Kraus) McNamara.

She was a retired registered nurse, loving mother, aunt, grandma, and friend to many. Joanne was a Catholic by faith and a longstanding member of St. John’s Church in Bellaire. She graduated from St. John Central in 1945, joined the Cadet Nurse Corp with her lifelong friend, Dorothy Ford (Glaser, Healy), and graduated from Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.

She married Charles W. Ney on January 6th, 1951 and together they raised 5 children: John (Pam) Ney, Cathy (Albert) Russell, Carol (William) LeMasters, of Shadyside, OH, Christine (Floyd) Trouten of Strongsville, OH, and Charles (Jennifer) Ney of Zionsville, IN.

Greatly loved grandmother to 17 grandchildren: Christopher (Erin) Ney, Danielle (Jason) Stanley, Nolan (Gina) Russell, Chase Russell, Dustin (Shannon) Russell, Elizabeth (AJ) Volpe, Alex (Kelly) Trouten, Jessica (Dan) Ketchum, Allison (Zach) Trouten, Katie (Dan) Noble, Claire (Mike) Fox, Andrea LeMasters, Eleanor LeMasters, Emily LeMasters, Chas (Julie) Ney, Connor Ney, Reagan Ney, and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles “Chicken”, a brother, John “Mac”, and a sister, Mary Mac.

Despite the pandemic, Joanne continued to attend mass with her oldest son, John. Her unwavering faith continues to lead the family by example. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, crocheting, knitting, and volunteering at Catholic Charities. Although we already miss Joanne terribly, her family can’t help but marvel and be grateful that we are all beneficiaries of such a well-lived life.

There will be a funeral mass determined at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Church in Bellaire, OH.
