Betty Hammond, 95, of Columbus, Ohio died Monday, March 1, at her home. She was born November 5, 1925 near Powhatan Point, a daughter of the late Frank and Leanna Johnson Hammond.

Betty was a graduate of Powhatan High School, Class of 1943 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Franklin University. She was a CPA and had been employed by the State of Ohio working for both the Auditor of the State and the Department of Education; she was also a bookkeeper and secretary for businesses throughout the Columbus area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robert Hammond.

Surviving are two sisters, Inez Caldwell of Beallsville and Mary McGrew of Powhatan Point; a sister-in-law, Inez Hammond of Powhatan Point; also several nieces and nephews.
