HOLLIS KEMP

Hollis Alton Kemp, 85, of Belmont died peacefully April 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 10, 1935, to the late Warren and Hildred (Pryor) Kemp. Also, preceding Hollis in death was his sister, Narita Buxton.

A member of the Church of Christ in Hunter, he was a man whose faith led his daily life and fulfilled his purpose to love, support, teach and provide for his family. He loved his wife, Dorothy, very much and was always concerned about her wellbeing. As a role model for his children and grandchildren, he created a legacy for generations, exemplifying his work ethics. He had a heart of gold, always putting the needs of his family and friends before his own. Learning to milk at the age of 18, Hollis believed in sustainability of the land and was a well-known dairy farmer in the community for 48 years.

Hollis’ memory will forever be cherished by those who survive; his wife of 59 ¢ years, Dorothy Kemp of Belmont; sons, Ross Kemp of Belmont, Arlen (Stephanie) Kemp of Lakeville, Kerry (MaryAnn) Kemp of Bethesda, and Chris (Lana) Kemp of Bellaire; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Hannah, Jonathan, and Jacob; and special companion, Frisky.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation, Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. and Friday, from 10-11 a.m., with the service immediately following, Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory Kelly Kemp Braido, 322 N. Main St., Bethesda. Micah Fuchs will officiate. Interment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions may be made to Valley Hospice in Hollis’ name.
