CAROLYN RUTTER
Carolyn M. Rutter, 86 of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Valley Hospice South’s Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born July 10, 1935 in Powhatan Point, Ohio daughter of the late Marcus A. and Virginia Barlow Saner.
Carolyn was a retired professor with Ohio University Eastern, a member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Captina Chaper 489 where she was a past Worthy Matron and the Ohio University Alumni Association. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1979 and her Masters Degree in Education in 1982 both from Ohio University.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor L. Rutter on October 27, 2006 and her brother, Jan B. Saner.
Surviving are her daughters, Lisa Crowe of Powhatan Point, Ohio and Leslie (Mark) Thompson of St. Clairsville, Ohio, her brother, Marcus (Phyllis) Saner of Powhatan Point, Ohio and sister-in-law, Joanne Saner of Powhatan Point, Ohio. Also three grandchildren, Cameron Thompson, A J Thompson and Alayna Crowe and a great grandson, Prince Mitchell.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 186 Main Street Powhatan Point, Ohio on Friday from 11 am until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Michelle Lucarelli officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.
