JEFFREY FRITTER

Jeffrey Scott Fritter, age 58, of 329 South High Street, Ext., Freeport died from COVID at 9:10 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 in Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

He was diagnosed on August 13, 2021.

Jeff was born January 8, 1963, in Dennison, Ohio; a son of the late Larry Ellis Fritter and Bernice Ellen Dunbar Fritter.

He was a 1981 graduate of Barnesville High School where he was a member of FFA, Who’s Who, and The National Honor Society. He played trombone in band and was also in Barnesville Marching Band. He was an Eagle Scout and in later years Scout Master. Jeff was employed for nine years by Kimble Refuse and Recycling at the Cambridge office as their parts manager, where he worked alongside his best friend, Larry Wells. Prior to that he worked for the Freeport Press for over twenty years as a press room supervisor.

He was an avid coon hunter and was a member of the Harrison County Coon Hunters Club. He participated in demolition derbies under the number 81. He had a passion for fixing up vehicles and his latest project was his Chevy Bonana. He was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns. He was a lifelong fan of Kiss and A Christmas Story.

Jeff is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Lee Ellen Bower Fritter. They were married April 11, 1987.

Also surviving are two children: a daughter Tabitha Fritter of Orient; a son, Mottley (Tara) Fritter of Wharton; step-grandson, Blaze Hoffman; two brothers: Gregory (Linda) Fritter of Piedmont, Brian Fritter of Piedmont; a sister, Donna Jean Fritter of Smyrna; several nieces and nephews; a dog Sparky and a granddog Dixie.

Jeff was cremated and a memorial service will be planned for a later date after his wife, Lee, recuperates from having COVID.

Jeff’s wife, Lee, would like to emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated to help stop the spread of COVID. She would not wish what she had to endure after she tested positive herself a couple days after Jeff on anyone.

Being separated from the love of her life during his last days was the most difficult thing she has ever had to do.

Please get vaccinated to prevent this from happening to you.
