JOSEPH KOSAR

Joseph Walter Kosar, 69, of Jacksonville NC, passed away on Monday evening at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Joe was a dedicated teacher in Martins Ferry, OH, for nearly 4 decades, and during that time he passionately coached a variety of school athletics. After retirement, he continued to stay active in his community by serving as a ranger at Wheeling Park. Since moving to Jacksonville, he made several new friends working as a salesperson at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Throughout his life, he was a friend to all he met, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.

Joseph is preceded in death by his father Joseph Kosar, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 and a half years Beth Kosar of the home; daughters Brooke Preston and husband Eric of Charleston, WV, Breanne Pompey and husband Timothy of Wooster, OH, Lundyn Fries and husband Eric of Jacksonville, and Kristyn Fetcko and significant other Zac Jebbia of Wheeling, WV; his mother Phyllis Kosar of Wheeling, WV; brothers David Kosar of Alexandria, VA, Ralph “Skip” Kosar and wife Tammy of Shadyside, OH, and Mark Kosar and wife Kim of Stow, OH; and his grandchildren Aiden Preston, Carter Preston, Tucker Pompey, Marley Fries, Addison Pompey, Elliotte Pompey, and Blakely Jebbia.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at Wheeling Park in the White Palace Ballroom. The address is 1801 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003. The service will be from 1pm until 4pm with words from family and close friends beginning at 1:30pm.
