FRED BURDA

Fred C. Burda, 82, of Martins Ferry passed away peacefully Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Park Health Center in St. Clairsville. He was born February 28, 1939, a son of the late John and Dorothy (McKinney) Burda.

Fred was retired from North American Coal Company. He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry. He was a 1957 graduate of St. John Central High School in Bellaire, attended Steubenville College. He was inducted in 2008 into the Hall of Fame of Franciscan College for playing on their #1 small college basketball team in the U.S. and winning the National Championship in 1958. Fred was the #1 fan of the Martins Ferry Purple Riders, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Burda, Sr, nephew John Burda, Jr., cousins Richard, Tom, Bill, and Bob McFarland.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Carol (Kirkpatrick) Burda and Cousin Jim (Betty) McFarland of Sunset Heights. He leaves behind honorary nieces and nephews Patty, Lori, Shae, Mara, Brady, Nikelle, Nixon, John, Tiffany, Richie, Johnny McFarland, Michael Wear, Brian, Casey, Lauren, and Ella McFarland. Sister in laws Cindy (Buddy) Littrell, Jennifer Littrell, Dona (Steve) Fortunato, Adam Fortunato, Stephanie, Emmalyn Vaness, Charlotte, Henry, and Franklin Fortunato. Nicole (Stephen) Greenberg, Kennedy, Chase Greenberg, Brother-in- law Jay (Denise) Kirkpatrick and Megan Kirkpatrick.

There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 10:00am till time of Service at 11:00am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Ohio. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church, 400 Hanover St., Martins Ferry, 43935.
