She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Ed) Trolley (Wheaton, IL), her granddaughter, Emily (Mark) McCall and her two great-grandsons, Finnegan and Jackson (Lincolnwood, IL), and many friends whom she considered family, including four very special friends who enriched her life in many ways.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Rudy Smigill (1990), her parents Henry and Grace Hartman (The Hartman Hotel), her companion of 20 years, Don Ault, and her sister and brother, Mary Lou Kernick and Lewis Hartman.

She was a lifelong resident of Powhatan Point, OH, but also loved to travel and visit friends and family. She traveled all over Europe and enjoyed winters in Florida for many years. Gammy, as she was fondly called by her grandchildren and their friends, loved to play cards, take road trips exploring, watch football, knit amazing blankets and read. Her apple dumplings, chocolate chip cookies, pickles and blackberry jam were the best around.

In accordance with her wishes, Helen Lee will have a private service at Powhatan Cemetery.
