WARNER MOORE
Warner R. Moore, 96, of Centerville, Ohio, died Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1924, in Centerville, Ohio, a son of the late Simon Lloyd “S.L.” Moore and Lettie Scatterday Moore.
Warner was a retired educator, school administrator and director of personnel and legal services for Ohio Department of Education and past superintendent of St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools. He was a member of the Chestnut Level Christian Church, a member and past master of Weyer Lodge #541 in Centerville, and former member of the Rotary Clubs of St. Clairsville and Belmont-Bethesda- Morristown. Warner was honored as a 2010 inductee of the Ohio Senior Citizen Hall of Fame.
In addition to his parents, Warner was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Gregg Moore; a son, Gregory Kent Moore; two brothers, Howard E. Moore, and Frances E. Moore; and two sisters, Vivian Wynn, and Edith Gustaferro.
Warner is survived by his wife, Patricia Lash Steele Moore; two sons, Jonathan (Phyllis) Moore of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and David (Stefanie) Moore of Acworth, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Moore of Centerville; a brother, Duane (Patty) Moore of Centerville; along with his extended family there are 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Brother Brent Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
