BARNEY POST
Bernard R. ‘Barney’ Post, 99, of Rayland, OH, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, in the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.
Barney was born April 1, 1922, in Jarvisville, WV, son of the late Aubrey Earl and Bessie Lillian (Hurst) Post.
He was retired from Grae-Con Construction Co. in Steubenville, OH. Barney also formerly worked at the Franklin Machine Works in Steubenville, where he was a machine shop foreman and manager.
His memberships included the Smithfield Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder Emeritus, Mingo Sportsman Club, and Life-Member of the NRA. Barney was a veteran of WWII having served his country in the Army-Air Corp.
In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Pearl ‘Peg’ (Garvin) Post in 2003; brothers, Rex, John, Kermit, Richard Post; sisters, Thelma Bennett, Martha Taylor, Jean Sherwood, and Frankie Loudin.
Barney leaves behind his son, Earl Boyd (Debbie) Post of Elizabethtown, KY; daughters, Myra Lynn Post (Andy Martinez) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Lila Jean (Mikel) Munsey of Lancaster, OH, and Dona K. (Bob) Omaits of Dillonvale, OH; 12 grandchildren, Ethan (Ashley) Post, Beth Post, Kate Post, Dr. Sara Sutherland Fowler, Jessika Sutherland (Charles) Smith, Grant Bernard Michalek, Sarita Munsey, Kevin Munsey, Abram (Lindsay) Omaits, Aubrea Omaits (Joe) Lollini, Emmalynn Omaits (Kellen) Schneeberger, and Sydney Omaits (Shane) Duncan, and 14 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. On Wednesday, visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at the Smithfield Presbyterian Church. Rev. Jim Taylor will officiate, and burial will follow in the Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion at the cemetery.
