JACK PRENDERGAST
Jack Charles Prendergast, former President and CEO of First Exchange Bank, passed away at the age of 82 in San Antonio, Texas on January 16, 2022.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Murray Prendergast, mother Pauline Snyder, stepfather Al Snyder, and first wife Rose Marie Prendergast.
Jack was born on June 7, 1939 in Wheeling. He graduated from Martins Ferry High School in Ohio in 1957. For four years, Jack served as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Air Force. Jack spent over 40 years of his career in banking, where he was the Vice President of Citizen’s Saving Bank in Martins Ferry, Ohio in addition to his executive positions at First Exchange Bank in Fairmont.
Jack was very active in the communities in which he lived. He was a member of the Martins Ferry Kiwanis Club, the President of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of Marion Cou- nty American Red Cross, along with several other organizations.
During retirement, Jack was an usher at the home stadium for the San Antonio Missions Minor League Baseball team. In his free time, Jack enjoyed going to the movies and baseball games, reading and collecting books, playing fantasy football, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brenda Hill Prendergast; daughters, Jennifer (Troy) Polen of Fairmont and Charla (Jason) Sedziol of Ohio; brothers, Tom (Cecilia) and Gary (Judy) Prendergast of Texas; grandchildren, McKenna and Logan Polen and Tyler and Sydney Sedziol; and many nieces and nep- hews.
