JOSEPH BARAN

Joseph C. Baran, 84 of St. Clairsville, OH died Friday, January 21, 2022 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, WV. He was born June 9, 1937 in Crescent, OH., a son of the late Joseph and Sophia Lumpcik Baran.

Joseph was a machinist and retired from the former Wheeling – Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in 2003. Even though he was a machinist by trade, he was a farmer at heart. He enjoyed hobbies on his family’s farm and spending time with his wife of 59 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Lucille Barron, Virginia Hess, Josephine Baran, Florence Baran and Cecelia Vercellino.

Surviving are his loving wife, Vita J. DePasquale Baran of St. Clairsville; a daughter, Lori (Rip) Dawson of St. Clairsville; a son, Jeffrey (Jill Sheppard) Baran of Jacksonville, FL; a brother. Edward (Sylvia) Baran of Martins Ferry, OH; a brother-in-law, Carmelo Fred DePasquale of St. Clairsville; a sister-in-law, Gloria DePasquale of Ft. Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 12 pm until time of funeral services at 2 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Fr. Thomas Chillog officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, especially the staff of 3 Center Unit for all of their dedicated support and care. The family asks that facial masks be worn and social distancing be observed.
