KARL WILLIAM STURGILL

Karl William “Bill” Sturgill, 94, of St. Clairsville, died January 29, 2022, at his daughter’s home.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late William “Clyde” Sturgill Sr. and Dorothy “Dot” Enmire Sturgill Harper.

Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II and was a retired employee of Interstate Truck Service and former employee of Consolidation Coal Company working in Egypt Valley. He is a member of the East Richland Evangelical Friends Church and a member of the Teamsters Union and UMWA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Morris Sturgill; brothers, William C. Sturgill Jr, Patrick Srurgill; sisters, Mary “Dee” Sturgill, Rebecca Sturgill; his grandparents, William and Emma Sturgill; a stepfather, Gilbert Harper; and stepmother, Billie Ramsay Sturgill.

Bill is survived by his two children, Karen (Wilfrid) Gallagher of Barnesville and William “Billy” (Doty) Sturgill of Crooksville, Ohio; a brother, John Michael (Linda) Sturgill of Texas; a sister, Gilda Lee (Russ) Kitchen of Tennessee; four grandsons, James (Crystal) Gallagher, Thomas (Amelia) Gallagher, Corby (Jessica) Sturgill, and Toby Sturgill; three great grandchildren, Christopher Gallagher, Khloe Gallagher, and Parker Sturgill.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Saturday from Noon until time of service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Jerry Wenger officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain.
