REV. WILLIAM “BILL” BOYER

Reverend William A. “Bill” Boyer, 91 of St. Clairsville, OH, died on May 19, 2022, at East Ohio Regional Hospital.

He was born February 3, 1931, in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Austin Vernon and Chrissie Russell Boyer.

Bill was an ordained Pastor, devoted to the United Church of Christ denomination, serving from June of 1956 to October 1995. He served many parishes through his career including: Paradise Troutville Charge in Troutville, PA, Beaver Charge in Knox, PA, Unity Church in Shanksville, PA, St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte, PA, Chaplain Emmaus Home, St. Charles, MO, Zion Church in Marion, IL, Zoar Church in Evansville, IN, St. Johns East in Evansville, IN, Trinity Church in Lewisville, OH.

Bill was committed to serving his community with great compassion for people. He served as Chaplain for Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, WV and Valley Hospice of Ohio and Wheeling. Bill was very active with Habitat for Humanity and the Blood Mobile of the American Red Cross.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Mae Schrecengost Boyer; a brother, Charles Boyer; stepmother, Helen Stull Boyer and a stepsister, Bernadine Russell.

He is survived by his children, Wil (Tara) Boyer, Mary (Dean) Allman, Tim (Jo Ellen) Boyer and Barb Boyer; a brother, Bernard (Kitty) Boyer, sister, Eleanor (Jim) Conn, sister- in-law, Betty Marie Boyer; six grandchildren, Chad (Jackie Weaver) Boyer, Todd (Britney) Boyer, Josh (Rae) Allman, Brett (Melissa) Allman, Jeremy (Marilyn) Boyer and Zach (Veronica) Boyer; and nine great-grandchildren, Lucas, Zoey, Lane, Oliver, and Theo Boyer, Hope, Nico, Olivia, and Addison Allman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
