DEAN KEMP
Dean Kemp, 62, of Barnesville, OH passed away unexpectedly in the morning of Nov 2, 2022. He was born on Jan 18, 1960 to the late Dallas and Wilma Jean Kemp (VanHorn) in Belmont, OH. Dean grew up on his parents’ dairy farm before pursuing a career in carpentry and construction. He worked for 34 years at the Belmont, Barnesville, and Cambridge Post Offices where he started as a clerk and carrier before finding a home as a maintenance custodian. He was an accomplished woodworker and helped countless relatives, neighbors, and friends throughout his life. He leaves an inspiring legacy to all who knew him of honesty, kindness, family values, and incredible work ethic. He would rarely stop any project he was working on other than to watch his Ohio State Buckeyes play football, or to play with his beloved grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving father and father-in-law, and was dearly beloved “Papa” to his 8 grandchildren. Soon after he graduated from Union Local High School in 1978, he met the love of his life, Gail Vanaman, and they were married in 1981.
Dean is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gail, their four children: Angela Kemp, Chad (Laura) Kemp, Eric Kemp, and Megan (Jim) Suchocki, and their grandchildren: Destiny, Jackson, Rory, Joseph, Nicholas, Lachlan, Daniel, and Grace, and five siblings: Dallas Roger (Billi) Kemp, Terry (Ginger) Kemp, Karen (Kevin) Davis, Karla (Kenny) Perkins, and Susan (Carlos Edward) Powell.
