LAWRENCE ZANI

Lawrence Emil (Larry) Zani, 95 peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV. He was born on November 9, 1927, in Bridgeport, OH the son of the late Joseph and Erminia (Moggio) Zani.

He was retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad as a trainman and worked for many years with the US Postal Service. Larry was a veteran of the US Navy post WWII.

Larry lived most of his life in Ohio, he was a lifelong Catholic and it is noted that he was the first male child baptized in the then brand-new St. Joseph’s Church in the Wolfhurst section of Bridgeport. He was a keen fan of polka music, played the accordion and harmonica and in much of his life was often seen at festivals and dances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Velma (Edgehouse) Zani, second wife, Laura (Slaven) Zani, daughter, Theresa Lee Zani, son, Lawrence Zani, siblings; Rudolph, Robert Zani, and Annette Zani Chiota.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Christine (James) Crisman, Marcella (Michael) Zombek, daughter-in-law, Hazel Zani, grandchildren; Rachel, Kayla, Meghan, Mathew and Mitchell, great-grandchildren; Aiden, Lily, Simon, Isabel, Blake, Zoey, Bradley, and Griffin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:45pm at the Chapel at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Ln., Wheeling, WV. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Blaine, Oh. Military honors performed by the Moundsville Honor Guard.
