CHERYL GATES

She graduated from Bellaire High School on June 1st 1960, and that very same day married our father, Tom Gates Jr, at the church next door to the high school. They remained inseparable for early 63 years, until dad’s passing on March 1st of this year. Together they raised three sons, Ty, Doug and Lee.

She was the loving and devoted grandmother of Kara, Brian, Courtney, Laken, Josh, Jerry, Jessica, Brennan, George and Ethan. She made every Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter extra special for her family and cooked countless meals for all of us, being especially well known for her home-made noodles.

She grew up in Bellaire and had two sisters and a brother, Elinor, Suzie and Mark. She worked at Ames in New Martinsville and at the Marshall County Co-Op in Moundsville, where she eventually retired. She served on the Clarington Town Council and was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarington.

And although she will be sadly missed by all of us, we can take deep comfort in knowing that her and dad are together again.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 30th 2 to 6pm at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr. in Clarington and services on Friday March 31st at 10am with internment at Clarington Cemetery, Clarington, Ohio.
