PAULINE KUBALAK
Pauline Fedorovich Kubalak left her earthly home peacefully on the evening of March 20 in the company of family. The youngest of eight children of Nicolas and Pauline Fedorovich of Neffs, Ohio, Polly died at the age of 97 1/2 (the 1/2 was important to her). She was preceded in death by her husband John S. “Que-Ball” Kubalak in 2006.
John and Pauline lived in Blaine, Ohio until 2005 when they moved to Columbus to be closer to family. After her husband’s death in 2006, Polly lived an independent life until 96 years of age when she went screaming into Abbington of Arlington assisted living.
However, within her first few weeks at Abbington she won the hearts of staff through her humor, her stubbornness, and appreciation for their assistance. She continued to be curious about everything and everyone, was wickedly amusing at times, loved the evenings of gospel music and so enjoyed visits by family and friends. In her last few months, she had some challenging days but she rarely complained about her medical condition.
Polly was a fiercely devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and during her husband’s final months, a devoted caregiver. She was not interested in or possessive of material goods but rather saw her treasures as her immediate and extended family.
She will be greatly missed by her immediate family. Sandy (Jon), Linda (David), Kasey (Dan), Erin, Brett (Adam) and the youngest loves of her life A. J. and Ryan, her great-grandchildren.
One of her final wishes is that her life and that of the Fedorovich family be celebrated at a family reunion. Her wish will be granted in the near future.
Thank you to La Toya, Kia, Tracy, Mo, and Sean at Abbington for making her final months so enjoyable. She knew she was loved! Thank you to Bella Care Hospice and especially Nicole for the care, compassion, and dignity given to her. All of your information made the final days with her so comfortable for us.
A mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew Parish, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus 43220 on April 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the MidOhio Food Collective or Nationwide Children’s Hospital Brain Tumor research.
Polly was a member of St. Joseph’s church in Wolfurst, Ohio and St. Andrews in Upper Arlington. She will be laid to her final rest in the St. Anthony’s cemetery in Blaine, Ohio.
