She was born in Wheeling on August 30, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Sara Adams Kitson.
She was a 1945 graduate of Wheeling High School. It was in high school that she joined the Civil Air Patrol and met her drill instructor and future husband, William (Bill) H. Her life’s joy came from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kitty had been an active member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Church, and later Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member, as well as an officer, of The Jean Laupp Thomas Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons. She also served as treasurer of the state organization of The King’s Daughters and Sons. In her lifetime, she had belonged to several card clubs. At least one of these was formed in the mid-1950s in the Burkham Court neighborhood and continued well into this new century.
She was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 63 years; her parents; her brother; her daughter-in-law, Myra G. Hagedorn; and her grandson, Benjamin (Kit) Kitson Baney.
She is survived by her children: Patricia Baney (Bob) of Virginia; William H. Hagedorn III of Florida; Charles K. Hagedorn (Mikell) of Massachusetts; John C.
