EDWARD OBOY
Edward Oboy, 89, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Maynard, Ohio, on June 25, 1933, a son of the late Walter Oboy and Sophia Vicker Oboy.
Eddie was a retired coal miner having worked at Saginaw Mine, Hanna Coal and Consolidation Coal Co. Franklin Mine and was also a self-employed plasterer and dry wall finisher. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving post war in Korea and was a member of the Neffs American Legion Post 77 and a member of the Maynard PNA Lodge 455. Some of his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, golfing, watching animals, making sausage and was well known for listening to the Sunday Polka Party extremely loud.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Yudasz, Ann Luginskie, Irene Balog, Geneva Piwkowski and Olga Lukacsko; and two brothers, John and Anthony Oboy.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Ellen Vaglienti Oboy; three sons, Mark (Vicky) Oboy, David (Michelle) Oboy, and Scott (Gayle) Oboy; five grandchildren, Zachary Oboy, Lydia Oboy, Sarah Oboy, Matthew Oboy and Tyler Oboy; a sister, Stella Zavacky; a brother, Joe Oboy; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday April 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil and PNA Service beginning at 3:30 p.m. and a Rosary Service to be held at 7:40 p.m.
Visitation will also be held on Saturday April 22nd at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 a.m. with Father Daniel Heusel the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
