MELVIN ROTH
Melvin L. Roth Sr., 76 of North Zane Hwy, Martins Ferry passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at the East Ohio Regional Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1946, the son of the late Fritz and Margaret Roth.
Mel was retired from the American Electric Power Company and the Dutch Henry Bar in Martins Ferry. He was past Fire Chief for the City of Martins Ferry and a member of the Liberty Engine Co., Martins Ferry Emergency Squad, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 456, and a graduate of St. John Central High School, class of 1965.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Kloss, brothers, James and Fred Roth and grandson Jesse Thomas.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Raella Roth, son, Melvin (Kim) Roth of Martins Ferry, daughter Lisa Rector of Midlothian, TX, son Les (Heidi) Roth of Martins Ferry, grandchildren, Chelsea, Lakin (Bryce Helms) Roth, Kennedy, Karli, Kameron Rector, Ty Thomas, two great-grand- children, Alexis Thomas and Braelynn Helms, brother in law Charles Kloss and several nieces and a nephew complete the family.
Family will be received on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Wilson Funeral – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut Street, Martins Ferry. Fire Department will hold services on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 7pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the 11am at the funeral home, with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating. Burial to follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry.
