LARRY PELTZ
Larry Walter Peltz, 82, of Mt. Pleasant Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in St. Clairsville, OH.
He was born in Wheeling, WV on October 6, 1940, to Walter (“Lightning”) and Cora (Livingston) Peltz.
Larry grew up in Adena, OH and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958. While in high school, he played basketball, which earned him an induction into the Mt Pleasant High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Following high school, he continued his education at West Liberty State College, and then enlisted in the US Navy. He also continued his basketball career through college as well as in the Navy. After leaving the Navy, Larry managed his family’s gas station until 1989 and simultaneously worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in the mid-1990s.
He was an avid sports fan, and his favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved Civil War history, enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas and playing blackjack.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Donna Peltz; parents Walter and Cora Peltz; and sister, Marianne Sefsick.
He is survived by son Kevin (Laura) Peltz of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Dr. Carrie Peltz of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Nicholas, and Riley Peltz; and his brother Edward (Rebecca) Peltz of Indianapolis, IN; sisters Audrey (John) Rushin and Cindy Starcher; three nephews and one niece.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 11-1pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale, OH 43917. Funeral Service and burial will take place at the Holly Memorial Garden Mausoleum at 1:45pm with the Belmont County Veterans officiating.
