MADELYN “MATTIE” BIGLER
Madelyn “Mattie” Bigler of Shadyside, formerly of Armstrong Mills and Powhatan, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 in WVU Wheeling Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1946 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late Delbert and Florence (Wallace) Ward.
Mattie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a friend to many. She was a member of the Captina Chapter #489 order of the Eastern Stars.
In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry Ward, Bill Ward, Wanda Mancini, Jean Stewart, and Kaye Goudy.
Surviving are her husband, Melvin Bigler, with whom they would have been celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2023, daughter, Cindy Bigler-Hughes, grandchildren, Jessica (Doug Cruse) Hartley, Justin (Jennifer) Allen, Bailey Hughes, Hunter Hughes, great- grandchildren, Skylar Hartley, Trey and Bryce Wright, Taegan Allen, siblings, Judy (Dave) Matusik, Jess (Melba) Ward, Dick (Rube) Ward, sister- in-law, Arlene Bigler Lucas, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home on Thursday, June 15, at 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Eastern Star services at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 16, at 11:00am with Sheila “Pixie” Bolts officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
