DORIS MORRISON
Doris Marie (Stobbs) Morrison, 109, of Martins Ferry, passed away, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care. She was born July 10, 1914, in St. Clairsville, the daughter of the late Matthew Henry and Lena (Sunderman) Stobbs.
Doris had a strong moral ethic, and she was kind to everyone. She was a homemaker, caring for her family was the most important job she could have. She belonged to the Colerain United Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member of the Friendly Circle Class. She supported the local humane society and other nonprofit organizations. Doris loved music from the time she was little. She sang with her sisters, and local churches would invite them to sing. Music was an important part of her life, and she said it helped her cope with the trials and tribulation as well as happy times in life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Lee Morrison, son; Donald Allen Morrison, daughters in law; Helen and Carol Morrison, brothers; Donald, Bayard, Leslie, Roy, Hugh Stobbs, sisters; Emily Lowman, Florence Stobbs, Roberta Mitchell, and Hester Lash.
Left to cherish her memory are her son; David Morrison of Martins Ferry, grandsons; Don Morrison and Dave (Vickey) Morrison, sister; Barbara McFarland, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved her so.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 9am to the time of service at 11am, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, OH 43912. Burial to follow at the Weeks Cemetery in Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Colerain United Presbyterian Church, 71780 State Rt. 250, Colerain, OH 43916 in Doris’s memory.
