ALBERT “AL” DePIETRO

Albert Lee “Al” DePietro, 86, of Flushing, Ohio, died August 9, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

He was born May 16, 1937, in Flushing, a son of the late James and Lena Bartolo DePietro.

Al was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Company having worked on the Gem of Egypt. He is a member and longtime trustee of Flushing United Methodist Church. A 1956 graduate of Flushing High School, Al played many sports and in his later years he enjoyed slow pitch softball; and Cleveland Browns, Guardians and Cavaliers. But, most of all he loved his family and his God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Beck and Elizabeth Tipton.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Meriland Lee Bartee DePietro; two daughters, Mrs. Tammy (Daniel) Cencula and Mrs. Tracy (Rodney) Earliwine; four grandchildren, Mr. Nathan Cencula, Mrs. Lauren (Scott) Folmar, Mrs. Mackenzie (Kyle) Filtz and Dr. Abigail Earliwine; two great grandchildren, Kasen and Jaxtyn Filtz; several nieces, a nephew and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at Flushing United Meth- odist Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Al Hoder officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing. Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home.
