BERNADINE “BERT” BURGHY
Bernadine Pearl “Bert” Burghy, 86, of St. Clairsville, OH passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at her home. She was born November 24, 1936 in Cameron, OH., a daughter of the late John and Lena Ady Palmer.
Bert was a home- maker and a methodist by faith. She was proud to have graduated from Bellaire High School. She enjoyed playing cards, flowers, cooking and Conway Twitty music, and going to Wheeling Downs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Sonny” Burghy in 2008; a daughter, Bobbie Jo Burghy; sons, John “Mike” Burghy and Clarence Russ Hoffman; sisters, Evelyn McGarry, Geraldine Spence, Iona Travis, Emily McGilton, Helen Kasik; a brother, Earl Palmer.
Surviving are her children, Terri (John) Knox of St. Clairsville, Brian (Rhonda) Hoffman of Glencoe, OH., Carol (Kenny) Phillips of Columbus, OH., Betty Burghy and Shelly Smith both of St. Clairsville; a daughter-in-law, Darlene “Susie” Burghy of St. Clairsville, Angie Burghy of Dillonvale, OH., Helen “Toni” Eckard of St. Clairsville; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grand- children; several nieces and nephews; many other foster children.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 am until time of funeral services at 12 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Pastor Dennis Heater officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
