DANIEL GALLAGHER

Daniel O’Neil Gallagher (D.O.G), 72, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 25th at Embassy of Cambridge. He was born on December 23,1950 in Barnesville, Ohio, to the late Jacob and Agnes Gallagher.

He was a 1968 graduate of Barnesville High School. After graduation, he attended Columbus Barber College. For several years, Dan and his brother Robert had a barber shop in Barnesville, Ohio. He was a member of The United States Navy from 1970-1973, stationed in Puerto Rico, and after his service returned to his hometown of Barnesville. Dan was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville, a Life Member and Chaplain with the Barnesville American Legion, Post 168, a member of Barnesville VFW, Post 2792 and the Disabled American Veterans. Dan was a blood donor with the American Red Cross, giving numer- ous pints of blood over many years.

Dan loved fishing, hunting and playing cards, especially with his family and friends. Dan’s favorite hunting companions were his two beagles, Bolt and Maggie. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousins, Kevin and Kim Powell. Dan was an avid sports fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Francis, Robert, and Charles.

Dan is survived by his brother, Chris (Teresa) Gallagher of The Woodlands, Texas, and his best friend, Judi Hanse of Barnesville. Also surviving, are his aunts Betty Gray, and Georgia, Carol and Bonnie Gallagher, all of Barnesville. Other family members include nieces Christine (Brian) Baugh, of Kyle, Texas, and Jillian Gallagher, of Laconia, New Hampshire, along with nephews Jacob (Emily) Gallagher, of Waterford, Connecticut, Jarrod Gallagher of Austin, Texas, and Matthew (Cathleen) Robinson of Hardin, Texas. Danny also has a great niece, Harriet Gallagher of Waterford, Connecticut, and great nephews Colton Robinson of Hardin, Texas, and Covey Baugh of Kyle, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a Vigil Service at 7:30pm at Campell- Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10am will be held at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
