HARRY SMOLIRA

Harry Joseph Smolira, 92, of Flushing passed away on Dec 13, 2023. He was born on Nov 8, 1931, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Waskiewicz) Smolira.

Harry was a Vietnam veteran with over 23 years of service in the United States Air Force where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a coal miner and a time keeper for a bearings company. He was the Lafferty Moose Administrator for over 20 years and an expert at crossword puzzles.

Harry was always smiling, razzing, and joking with friends and family. He was a loyal husband, an awesome father, and a good friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores Smolira; brothers, Stanley, Max and Joe Smolira.

Left to cherish his memory are son, Garry (Jo Ann) Smolira; daughter, Cindy Baxter; grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Smolira, Daniel (Katie) Smolira; great-grandchildren, Chaela, Alivia, Kennedy; caretakers, Rhonda Palmer, Crystal Myers; and grandpup, Barkley.

Calling hours will be on Tues., Dec. 19, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main St, Bethesda, OH 43719. The Belmont County Veterans will be presenting a flag to the family at 3:30 p.m. The funeral service will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Dec. 20, 2023 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Dave Cornett as presider. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Lafferty, OH.

Friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following graveside services at the Lafferty Moose Lodge.
