GEORGE EMFIELD
George W. Emfield, 82, of Tiltonsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Continuous Care Center, Wheeling Hospital, WVU Medicine surrounded by his family.
George was born April 7, 1941, in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Elmer and Ivy (Langford) Emfield of Smithfield. He was also preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law Joe and Leona “Pap” and “Nan” Poch of Connersville.
George was a truck driver for many years and retired from Chrome Deposit in Weirton. He was a member of the Tiltonsville United Methodist Church. His favorite pastime was watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Poch) Emfield. In addition to his wife, he has left behind a loving family who will miss him so much including two daughters, Kim (Ed) Leonard of Rayland; Kristie (Brock) Ondayko of Pickerington; son Darren (Kim) Emfield of Rayland; six grandchildren, Kelcie (Dustin) Hilderbrand and Karlee Leonard, both of Rayland; Joshua and Emily Ondayko of Pickerington; Allison and Andrew Emfield of Rayland; one sister, Wanda Skidmore of Tiltonsville, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to George and celebrate his life on Sunday, January 14 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville with Father William Cross presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Continuous Care Center Wheeling Hospital, WVU Medicine in George’s name. Contributions can be mailed to 236 Hullihen Place, Wheeling, WV, 26003.
