L. JOAN FERGUSON
L. Joan (Haight) Ferguson, 95, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Barnesville went home to be with the LORD on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. She was born on September 2, 1928, in Cattaraugus, New York.
Joan graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio, in 1947. She then graduated from nursing school at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio. She had a very successful career as nurse and nursing supervisor at Barnesville Hospital where she retired in 1993. Joan was a member of the Shady Lane Baptist Church for many years before moving away.
Preceding her in death was her husband Newton Franklin Ferguson, son Franklin Allen Ferguson, mother Grace Huntington Bliss Haight, step-mother Anna Johnson Haight, father Allen Potter Haight, brother John Haight, brother Robert Haight, and brother Frank Haight.
She is survived by sister, Alberta Hodgson; children, David Ferguson and wife Debby, Grace Maxwell and husband Greg, Ruth Stauch and husband Bruce, Peggy Ferguson (Frank’s wife); grandchildren, Gideon Maxwell and wife Dena, Daniel Maxwell and wife Kandice, Audrey Bivins and husband David, Heather George and husband Bill, Anne Seely and husband Cody, Melody Hickey and husband Thomas, and Joel Ferguson; great-grandchil dren, Lily Maxwell, Jonathon Maxwell, Gabriel Maxwell, Vio- let Maxwell, Ephraim Maxwell, Abram Max- well, Layla Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell, Lydia Bivins, Nathaniel Bivins, Jacob Bivins, Grayson Seely, Olivia Seely, Eowyn Hickey, Piper Hickey, David George, and Keziah George.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 10:00am until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rodney West officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
