STANLEY STEIN

Stanley Stein, 83, of Bellaire Ohio, a devoted community member and beloved figure in Bellaire, Ohio, died on January 7, 2024.

Born on November 6, 1940, in Bellaire, a son of the late Abraham and Sarah Medelson Stein, Stanley’s journey in life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his profession, his community, and his cherished hobbies.

Throughout his career, he was the former Owner/ Operator of Berman’s Family Shoes. He brought his expertise to the public sector, serving as City Planner for both Bellaire and Martins Ferry, Ohio.

Stanley was a member of Temple Shalom, Wheeling and a member and board member of the former Agudus Achim Congregation, Bellaire, Ohio.

Outside of work, Stanley enjoyed an assortment of hobbies and interests. For several years, he devoted his time to calling Bingo at Temple Shalom. He was a passionate supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Bellaire Big Reds, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a former season ticket holder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Stanley relished in the excitement of watching baseball and cheering on his favorite team. Stanley also found enjoyment in bowling.

Above all, Stanley’s main passion in life was his family. He relished every moment and memory he made with them. One of his most cherished pastimes was playing and winning at Uno with his family and friends, a testament to the fun-loving nature that endeared him to those around him.

Stanley’s involvement in the community extended beyond his personal pursuits. Throughout his life, he was involved in organizations such as the Bellaire Touchdown Club and the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce. Recognizing the importance of education, Stanley also served on the Board of Education for the Bellaire Schools. Additionally, he lent his expertise and time to the Boards of BELOMAR, EORTA, Community Action Committee and the Bellaire Jewish Cemetery. Among his many achievements, Stanley took immense pride in founding the B&W Stock Club 54 years ago.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Carol (Winslow) Stein, two daughters Deborah (James) Kakos of Columbus Ohio and Rebecca (Tulsa) Buddenberg of Masillon Ohio, brother Robert (Tina) Stein of North Canton, grandchildren; Sarah (Gregory) Lenihan, Bradley (Maggie) Kakos, Melanie (Fiance LaShawn Towns) Kakos, Austin Buddenberg, and Kyle Buddenberg, great- grandchildren Thomas and Amelia Lenihan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street Bellaire Ohio from 4-7pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 12 until time of service at 1pm with Rabbi Joshua Leif officiating. Interment to immediately follow in Jewish Winding Hill Cemetery, Bellaire Ohio.
