WILLIAM MULL II

William “Quay” Quay Mull II, a devoted family man, successful entrepreneur, and philanthropist passed away on December 28, 2023, in Wheeling, West Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old.

Quay’s journey through life was marked by determination, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he cared about.

Born September 12, 1942 in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, son of the late William Quay Mull I and Esther Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Bantan Mull. Quay graduated with a degree in Industrial Management from Ohio State in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he joined Mull Machine, founded by Bill and Marie Mull, where he began a lifelong journey in business. In 1979, Quay embarked on his entrepreneurial path by acquiring his first business, setting the stage for a remarkable career.

Over the years, he acquired numerous enterprises, and his final real estate acquisition in 2012 solidified his legacy as a successful entrepreneur. Even at the age of 81, Quay continued to come to work every day, remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operations. His love for the companies and the people who worked for them was evident to all who knew him. Quay possessed a deep commitment to his community, and his philanthropic endeavors were marked by humility. For decades, he generously donated to numerous organizations anonymously, believing that doing the right thing was its own reward. Quay was known for his tough yet fair approach to business and life. To him, his employees were more than just a workforce; they were family. He strived to take care of those around him, embodying the values of integrity and fairness.

In 2004, Quay’s life took another joyful turn when married his wife, Kymmy and adopted her “two boys.” His children meant everything to him, and he was the father every child dreamed of having. Regardless of his busy schedule, Quay was always there to support his sons, attending every school event and creating cherished memories.

Quay’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he served selflessly. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of achievements and a profound impact on those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, Quay was preceded in death by his father’s second wife, who took great pride in raising him as her own, Marie Ethel Freiberg Mull.

Quay is survived by his loving wife, Kymberly Mull of Wheeling, WV, and his two boys- James Mull of Saint Clairsville, Ohio Jason and Rachel Mull of Saint Clairsville, Ohio.

Family and friends will be received at CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 204 West Main Street St. Clairsville Ohio on Wednesday January 3, 2024 from 2pm until 4pm and again from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Thursday January 4, 2024 at 11am. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery, St.Clairsville Ohio.
